About Two Roots Farm
Two Roots Farm has been growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers for the Roaring Fork Valley using regenerative methods since 2016. We aim to grow food in the cleanest, healthiest way possible: prioritizing the vitality of our farmers, soil, and eaters above all else. We use organic growing practices, minimum tillage, biodynamic compost, crop rotations, increased biodiversity, and sustainable methods to grow the best produce possible without the use of any chemicals, herbicides, or pesticides. We rely on integrated pest management, building healthy soil, and hard working farmers to maintain a vibrant farm. Our pastures are managed using management-intensive rotational grazing, no-spray, and no-till methods.
We sell our produce into the Roaring Fork Valley through a 200+ member CSA, an onsite farm stand, and local restaurants. Two Roots Farm additionally provides produce to Lift Up (Basalt- Rifle grassroots food insecurity organization) and the Pitkin County Senior Center.
Our goal is to grow the healthiest food possible while fostering a positive work environment, vibrant soil, and community connection. I believe that soil is our most precious resource and we are constantly working to better protect it and enable life.
A Bit about me
My name is Harper, and I am the owner of Two Roots Farm. 2024 will be my 9th season running Two Roots Farm and my 11th year farming in the Roaring Fork Valley. I grew up in Colorado, and love living around the mountains. I first found farming in college (University of Montana Missoula) and quickly felt a calling in the work. Following college, I worked on farms in California and Montana, and then moved to the Roaring Fork Valley for an Agricultural Manager job at ACES Rock Bottom Ranch. In 2015, I started Two Roots on leased land in Missouri Heights. In 2018, Two Roots secured a long term lease with Pitkin County on Emma Open Space, where I am based now. Every farming season has offered new lessons and challenges. I am proud of the success Two Roots Farm has had through the years in our high altitude climate. Each year, I am supported by a hard working and dedicated crew that learn along side me and make this farm dream possible. I believe strongly that small scale regenerative agriculture is a key piece to building a brighter future for our planet. Join us on our journey to building a more regenerative food system! We would love to be your farmers.
